Managing unwelcome financial guests and risk

We’ve discussed some of these things–“gremlins”, we call them:

  • The idea that “more”, on its own, may not be sufficient. If an asset is not well-positioned and timely in its availability, whatever we have may not do what it is intended to do
  • The realities of the up and down (and back up?) nature of the equity markets. The investments we rely upon for “growth” in our assets. And the reality of those up and down cycles and values, when compared to a “lower” return and safety of principal (having no losses to make up)
  • The harsh impact of taking Required Minimum Distributions from our IRA/401(k) assets–when market values are down significantly
  • The financial impact of taking those distributions, often during down markets, when incurring admin/management fees, usually ranging from 0.75% to 2%+. The greater and more rapid destruction of the asset base . . . and its effect on future account values and retirement income
  • Not understanding the impact of recent changes to distribution requirements of IRA/401(k) types of assets to beneficiaries other than spouse.

We discuss/show what these “gremlins” look like, when they impact your retirement money. A close look may very well encourage you to pick up the phone and call us, or send us an inquiry via email about how you would like to discuss some better outcomes for yourself, and those you care about.

The times may be somewhat confusing, but we can sort through things–together.
